Vegetables

Today we planted our vegetable seedlings into our gardens.
It was extremely hot so we had to water and mulch our plants
really well. Here's hoping we have a bumper crop of vegetables
in two or three months. Well done everyone. The gardens look
great.

Working in our gardens

This afternoon we worked in our gardens to get them
ready for planting our vegetable seedlings next week.

Cooking

Yesterday we started Thursday activities and we were the cooking group.
Here we are in our kitchen having fun making rhubarb muffins. We picked the
rhubarb from our vegetable garden and used the eggs from our hens.We even
did the washing up afterwards! The muffins were delicious.

Water for Health

Jenny from Western Water came to talk to us about water.
Sammy saves water with his trigger hose nozzle.

Ruby, Hannah and Oliver read about what is
in these drinks and how much they cost to buy.

Ned, Ryan, Brodie, Mary and Rory also read
out the ingredients for these drinks.

Jenny sharing with MPL.

Jack is making a pretend coke to show us
what ingredients are in one can of coke.

Sophie is using a model to show us what organs we use
to process water in our body.

MJB watch Maddy taking all the organs out of the model.
We learnt that water makes all our organs work and sugar
stops our body absorbing water. Thank you Jenny for your
interesting session on water for health.

The Carlsruhe Playground

On Friday we went and had our play lunch at the park across
the road from the school. Then we had fun playing on the new
equipment. The grade four's from 2011 helped design this
 playground. It is really cool.

Beginning our vegetable gardens

Today we choose our partner for our own vegetable garden.
Then we went and choose a garden bed which will be ours for the
whole year. Next we put little fences up and began to add some
compost into the top soil. Tomorrow we will make signs for our
garden and add more compost. Everyone worked really well
and cooperated with their partner. Well done.

Cross Country Running

Each morning we start our day with stretching exercises and then we run
around our oval for five minutes. We are working on improving our own
fitness and stamina. Everyone is doing a great job.
