End of term two

As it is the end of the term we dismantled
our cubbies and stacked the wood neatly
ready for next term. What a great job
everyone did working together to get
the job done really quickly.

Woodend Primary School Strings Concert.

This evening some of our students played in the Strings
Program Term 2 Concert at St Ambrose Hall, Woodend.
As well as playing their violins in the Resonance String Orchestra
to start the program the following students played violin solos.

Maeve played "Never Never" accompanied by Sasha.

Kayleigh played "Gypsy Dance" accompanied by Sasha.

Gen played "Buffalo Gals" accompanied by David.

Hayden played "Hunting the Hare" and "Mrs Macleod" accompanied by David.

It was a very enjoyable evening and it was worth going out on a bitterly cold
evening to hear these students. Well done everyone.

June Water Samples

Each month we collect a sample of
water from the Campaspe River at
Carlsruhe.

Here Mitch is carefully collecting
the sample on a cold Winter's
morning.  You are such a

Historic Carlsruhe

This cairn was erected by the Carlsruhe
Community to commemorate the founding
of Carlsruhe by Charles Ebden in May 1837.

Looking at the Cairn on the corner of the
old Calder Hwy and Nicholson Street.
It marks the spot where the Northern
toll gate stood.

Olivia and Olivia outside the previous
Royal Admiral Lodge which later became
the Carlsruhe Hotel and is now Lord
Admiral House.

The old bluestone Presbyterian Church
in Nicholson Street was opened in 1872.

The church is now a private residence
and is known as 'Churinga."

State School No.115. This red brick building
was completed in 1893 and replaced the old
school that had been in existence in Ebden
Street since 1855.

Our beautiful old school began to be used
by Woodend Primary School in 1985.
Every year since then grade fours
have had their classes here.

Abilities Awareness Program

Yesterday Jim Asimakopoulos who has
cerebral palsy, spoke to our students
about his abilities and life experience.
He spoke about valuing diversity,
 respect and getting along.
He is an AFL level one football coach
and impressed us with his knowledge
of past games and an ability to
quickly add scores. He is a great guy
 and our students thoroughly
 enjoyed his visit.
We hope he will visit us again.
Thank you Jim.
