Planting potato tubers

On Friday we all went outside and together planted 5 kilograms of certified
potato tubers. Everyone worked hard by digging the trenches, planting the
tubers and then getting our wonderful compost and spreading it over the beds.
Look how well everyone worked and cooperated. We will have a lot of
potatoes in about five months time!

Our last activity rotation for term 3

All of our students have worked very hard and
made many wonderful gifts for our Father's
Day stall.
Our wonderful adult helpers have made all
the difference, thank you everyone.
Our 2014 Carlsruhe quilt will look terrific.

I think that there will be some very happy dad's
on Father's Day if they receive one of these signs.

Our cooks proudly display their blackberry muffins
before we can eat them.

Water Testing

An early morning walk before school to collect a water sample from the Campaspe River.

We test the water each month to check the health of the river. There are four tests- pH, electrical conductivity (salinity), turbidity and reactive phosphorus. We also have to record the temperature of both the water and the air.

It is a lot of fun. As well as looking pretty, the river is quite healthy and makes a great habitat for all the creatures, fish and animals that depend on the river.

Lou Lou came to visit

Erin brought her new puppy LouLou to Carlsruhe. She is about 15 weeks old and is really cute. She loved getting patted by all of us.

Disco at School 20th August

It was great to wear casual clothes, raise money for Marfan syndrome and cancer and go to the disco. We did the macarena, played games and danced to the music.

Footsteps incursion 19th August

Beau demonstrated the tango with Michaela from Footsteps. We all learned some hip hop dance steps. It was great fun.

Working hard and having fun at Thursday activities

We're learning to do macrame with craft strings to make keyrings for the Father's Day stall.

Our quilt squares are looking fantastic. Before the end of the year Carlsruhe will have a new quilt to hang on the wall. This is our gift to Carlsruhe for 2014.

Crocheting and quilling are wonderful skills to learn when making special cards for the Dads.

These signs will look fantastic!!

Our cooks always wash the dishes after making something either sweet or savoury for us to eat on Friday at recess. This is a spinach and cheese slice made from spinach grown in our vegie garden.

We spun this wool when we learned how to use the spinning wheels. Lisa came and showed us this new skill.

A Surprise Party for Oliver

On Thursday 14th August we had a surprise party for Oliver as he is going to America for a year. We will miss you, but we wish you all the best!!
Jaliah also came to visit Carlsruhe for a couple of days. It was great to catch up with all her news.

Coach Cash with MU6

Coach Cash talked to us about shopping carefully with the help of Lauren's Shoe Store, Ru Bank and Erin ATM. We learned how the bank tells the shop if the person has enough money in their account, when they are using a debit card. We were also divided into three teams -  Zoomers, Browsers and Super Gs, to discover the importance of comparing prices when shopping.
